The Universe is Holographic, and Humans Are Merely a Microcosm of It—The Body Exquisitely Corresponds to Astronomy and Geography
First, we must understand: What is the essence of a human being?
The human body has 365 acupoints, and a year has exactly 365 days. The body has 12 meridians, and a year has exactly 12 months. The spine has 24 segments, and a year has exactly 24 solar terms. Humans are entirely in harmony with nature!
Humans are born from the energy of heaven and earth, and thus the human body must follow the natural law of the waxing and waning of yin and yang.
The highest level of tranquility for a person is to merge oneself into the cyclical flow of time and space, where all things operate.
Since ancient times, the Chinese have revered the concept of "the unity of heaven and humanity."
This means that, from the vast movements of celestial bodies in the universe to the subtle operations of the internal organs in the human body, their underlying logic is the same. This is what we call the "Dao."
For many who seek enlightenment and practice cultivation, the essence of meditation, deep contemplation, and reflection is—
adjusting the operational state of the human body so that its order aligns with the movements of the celestial bodies in the universe. In doing so, you become a projection of the universe in this world, achieving self-forgetfulness and egolessness.
In fact, our ancestors discovered this long ago. For example, the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon studies the principles of the human body’s operation using the theory of the mutual generation and restraint of the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.
Indeed, the movements of Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn in the solar system are fundamentally the same as the cooperation of the internal organs in the human body.
Another example is the "lesser celestial cycle" mentioned by the ancients, which represents the system of the moon orbiting the Earth. The human spine has 24 segments, and as the body cycles, each vertebra responds accordingly.
Based on these subtle changes, the ancients discerned the nodes of change in a cycle, thus dividing the Chinese lunar year into 24 solar terms.
Therefore, every part of the human body has a corresponding point in the universe.
Through introspection and inner observation, all galactic systems can find their corresponding positions in the human body—such as the 28 constellations in the five organs, or the Milky Way in the gate of life.
The essence of calming the mind is to continuously enhance one’s ability to harmonize with nature, ultimately reaching the state of unity between heaven and humanity.
In this world, from the vast movements of celestial bodies to the cycles of the internal organs in the body, the essence is the same: the perpetual motion generates energy.
The energy produced by the human body is not only related to its operational orbit but also deeply connected to our inner selves. It, in turn, acts upon our bodies, influencing their functioning.
The following wisdom must be kept in mind:
1. Humans and the external natural world, with all its phenomena, are interconnected—you are in me, and I am in you.
We are mutually integrated: when you are well, I am well, and everyone is well. Human thoughts are essentially information from the external world—information comes and goes, old makes way for new. The particles and cells of the human body continuously refresh, metabolize, and renew.
2. Everyone possesses independent thinking abilities. When faced with different phenomena in nature, we instantly form judgments and understandings. How are these judgments and understandings produced?
They are the result of the combined action of our hearts and minds, what we call "innate nature." As the saying goes, "It is easier to move mountains and rivers than to change one’s innate nature."
3. Cultivation is about letting go and gaining: letting go of worries and troubles to attain peace and harmony.
Letting go of and compressing all content stored in our brain cells, emptying everything, replacing the old with the new, cleansing and renewing, extracting the essence and discarding the dross, abandoning conventional thinking, and embracing transcendent wisdom.
4. Humans must have love. Love is tolerance and forgiveness. Love is the ceaseless vitality of life, seeking nothing else but to benefit humanity and find joy in achievement. When you benefit all living beings, all living beings will inevitably serve you in return.
5. "All living beings in the universe" refers not only to those on Earth but also to everything in our solar system—Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Venus, Mercury—
all life activities of humans, animals, plants, and various microorganisms, as well as all related activities and phenomena:
stones, soil, sand, rivers, lakes, seas, wind, clouds, rain, lightning, villages, factories, mines, institutions, schools, hospitals, roads, railways, waterways, air routes, cars, trains, ships, airplanes, spacecraft, all water molecules in the world, air, oxygen, and countless other phenomena, both vast and minute.
6. Understanding nature means understanding the movements and principle of change of the sun, moon, and stars; understanding the movements of mountains and rivers; understanding the principle of creation of all living beings; and recognizing and mastering the connection between humanity and the planet we inhabit, as well as the connection with the central command of our solar system.
Understanding nature is understanding oneself. By gaining a more accurate understanding of oneself, we can further promote a more comprehensive and perfect understanding of nature. Humans and nature are intimately connected, interdependent, and inseparable.
7. Human health, in the true sense, is the health of every living cell that constitutes a person. It cannot be viewed in isolation.
Because we live in a complete and unified environment and space, within which there are humans, animals, plants, various microorganisms, and all other living beings. Every member of this great family is interconnected, sharing fortunes and misfortunes.
Human health is a reflection of the health of nature and the well-being of all life that thrives within it.
8. The core of health is unity and balance: the balance between body and spirit, thought and mindset, mind and soul, temperament and emotion.
The balance between emotions and conscious actions, head and limbs, brain and heart, the five organs and six bowels, yin and yang, qi and blood, inhalation and exhalation, metabolism—the balance of every living particle and cell that constitutes life. This is known as ecological balance.
9. Where does energy come from? From the sun, moon, stars, and all phenomena.
Where do the sun, moon, stars, and all phenomena come from? From heaven and earth. Energy is omnipresent and abundant. Everything in natural space, including all living beings, is a confluence of energy.
Human spirit, thought, and physical body are all energy. Every action, whether movement or stillness, visible or invisible, is the motion and transformation of energy.
10. All life activities of the self are divine. There is no need to seek divinity outside the self. Divinity lies within the stirrings of thoughts and the subtleties of actions, silently reminding us not to seek externally.
The Inner Canon long ago advised people: "In tranquility and emptiness, true qi follows; guard the spirit within, and whence can illness arise?" As the saying goes, "Closing the eyes nurtures the spirit." This reflects people’s understanding of divinity and how to nurture health from the root of life.
11. Throughout history, people have said, "Fighting is intimacy, scolding is love; quarrels at the head of the bed are resolved by its foot."
No matter how intense the conflict, reconciliation is what matters. Reconciliation is unity and balance, a form of ecological balance.
By achieving one’s own ecological balance, we can promote the ecological balance of families, society, the nation, humanity, and all living beings. We can foster the ecological balance of our shared home—Earth.
12. To elevate yourself, you must consider all aspects of the word "self."
This means elevating your mind, body, spirit, thoughts, will, beliefs, aura, abilities, energy, and temperament;
your courage, resilience, virtue, insight, character, innate nature, and the function, potential, efficiency, instinct, level, and state of every living cell within you.
13. There is no perpetual good fortune nor perpetual misfortune. Moreover, destiny, like the operation and development of all things, follows patterns that can be understood and predicted.
Finally, sincere blessings to you:
May you comprehend the laws of heaven, understand the will of heaven, align with the timing of heaven, receive the aid of heaven, and enjoy the blessings of heaven!
Heaven gives and heaven takes; with timing, right location , and harmony, may all be well!
